Mission Statement

 

The mission of VPG is to advance the best clinical care and service for our patients in Santa Clara County regardless of their income, ethnicity or language spoken. VPG will maintain a positive and effective voice for the highest quality care of our patients as well as physician practices and professional standards. VPG advocates for fair compensation and safe working conditions for the county’s medical professionals and provides exceptional training for the next generation of physicians.

VPG Officers

  • Rachel Ruiz, MD

    CHAIR

    Dr. Rachel Ruiz is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC). She is born and raised in Santa Clara County. She is the Chairperson of VPG as of July 2023.

  • Praveen Anchala, MD

    VICE CHAIR

    Dr. Praveen Anchala is a Radiologist at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC), where he is Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging and Vice Chair of VPG. Dr. Anchala also teaches and supervises SCVMC and Stanford Radiology residents.

  • Joseph Cooper, MD

    SECRETARY

    Dr. Joseph Cooper is a Board Certified Infectious Diseases Physician with expertise in HIV and Infectious Diseases at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC). He is an advocate for People Living with HIV/AIDS who works mainly in the PACE Clinic. He is the Secretary of VPG as of July 2023.

  • Eon Rios, MD, Ph.D.

    TREASURER

    Seven years ago, Dr. Rios joined Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) as Attending Physician in the Department of Dermatology, where he also serves as Treasurer of VPG.

We specialize in a diverse array of medical disciplines, representing primary care, neurosurgery, dentistry, gynecologic oncology, podiatry and anesthesiology. With our guiding principle squarely focused on healthcare equality and advocacy for all our patients, we train 1 in 4 of Silicon Valley’s future medical professionals. Furthermore, the hospitals and healthcare centers we serve are among the top trauma and COVID-19 resource sites in the Bay Area. Hospitals where we work include Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital and St. Louise Regional Hospital.
